The Association of Polar Early Career Scientists (APECS) announces the
sixth webinar in the Fall 2012 Career Development Webinar Series,
scheduled for Tuesday, 13 November 2012 at 5:00 p.m. GMT. For

This week's webinar is entitled "Incorporating Citizen Science in Your
Research Project." It will be presented by Katie Villano-Spellman, a PhD
Student at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Citizen science is the
act of involving the general public in the processes of data collection.
Citizen science can be a great way to generate more robust research
results while helping the general public understand some of the
fundamentals of the scientific process and data collection techniques.
Katie Villano-Spellman is currently completing her PhD at the University
of Alaska Fairbanks, and has incorporated a citizen science component
with her research project about invasive species in Alaska. Katie will
discuss the lessons she has learned in incorporating citizen science
into her research, and provide tips for those who are interested in
using this effective research and outreach technique.
