The National Museum of Denmark seeks applications for a research
professor position in Arctic archaeology. The position is for a period
of five years with a possible extension of another three years, and will
be based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The main responsibilities of the research professor are to develop the
present stage of Arctic archaeological research in Denmark; to inspire
and guide PhD students and postdocs, researchers, and senior
researchers; to develop further collaboration between Danish and
Greenlandic research institutions as well as international; to
establish, fundraise, and head international and interdisciplinary
research projects; to develop projects which releases the research
potential of the existing, comprehensive archaeological material within
the Ethnographic Collections; and to offer expert advice in connection
with the Arctic collections at the National Museum. The professorship
will be associated with the Department of Modern History and World
Cultures and will be an integral part of the research environment at
this department. Normal curatorial casework is not included in the
position.

The successful applicant should hold an academic degree in archaeology
or similar, should have documented profound experience in conducting
research projects in Greenland and other parts of the Arctic, and should
have published archaeological research at the highest international
level. Furthermore, emphasis will be placed on the ability to manage
research and carry out other management functions, amongst other things
through the documented ability to build a strong, active research
environment and attract external funding to it. The applicant is
expected to acquaint him or herself with one of the Scandinavian
languages.

NEON, Inc. seeks applications to the position of field technician (level
1, 2, or 3 depending on skills, experience, and education). The position
is fulltime and will be based in Fairbanks, Alaska.

This position supports sites in the Taiga and Tundra Domains. Taiga
Domain candidate sites are located at the Caribou-Poker Creeks Research
Watershed near Chatanika, AK, south of Delta Junction, AK and near
Healy, AK. Tundra Domain candidates sites are located at Toolik Field
Station south of Prudhoe Bay and at Barrow Environmental Observatory.
The Taiga and Tundra domains include most of Alaska.

Responsibilities include testing, troubleshooting, and operating
instruments, calibration equipment, and test fixtures; inspecting and
maintaining civil infrastructure including boom arms, sensor mounts,
towers, boardwalks and instrument huts; assisting the NEON Systems
Engineering Product Team with instrument installation and testing
(approximately the first 6 months; and recording activities, completed
work, and trouble tickets according to field operations protocol. The
work is physical and involves walking, hiking, prolonged standing,
walking, and bending. Heavy items (e.g. equipment and packs up to 40
pounds) must be lifted and carried on a routine basis.

  1. Clark University seeks Professor
    Earth System Science
    Worcester, Massachusetts

The Graduate School of Geography at Clark University invites
applications for a 2015-2016 academic year, non-tenure-track position in
Earth System Science at the Visiting Assistant Professor or Instructor
level. This is a fixed-term, one-year position based in Worcester,
Massachusetts.

A PhD (or all but dissertation) in geography or a related field is
required. The successful candidate will teach six courses (3-3 load),
including two sections of introductory earth system science, weather and
climate, Artic systems science, and a fifth course of the candidate's
choice. Advising may stand in lieu of the sixth course. Experience
teaching earth system science courses is strongly preferred.
