The abstract submission deadline for the 43rd Liege Colloquium on Ocean
Dynamics has been extended to Monday, 31 January 2011. The colloquium is
entitled "Tracers of physical and biogeochemical processes, past
changes, and ongoing anthropogenic impacts," and will be held 2-6 May
2011 in Liege, Belgium.

This colloquium will investigate new developments related to tracers and
proxies (e.g., temperature, salinity, gases, and isotopes) with a
particular attention on the use of Trace Elements and Isotopes (TEI) as
oceanographic tools to:

- Describe physical processes;
- Quantify production and carbon export, energy transfer, and
trophic pathways;
- Understand the role of limiting micronutrients regulating
ecosystem production and structure;
- Reconstruct past ocean conditions; and
- Study transport and fate of anthropogenic inputs and pollutants.

Selected papers will be published in a special issue of the Journal of
Marine Systems.

The abstract submission deadline for the 11th Conference on Polar
Meteorology and Oceanography has been extended to Monday, 31 January
2011. The conference is sponsored by the American Meteorological Society
(AMS) and organized by the AMS Polar Meteorology and Oceanography
Committee, and will be held 2-4 May 2011 at the Omni Parker House in
Boston, Massachusetts.

Papers are solicited on all aspects of polar meteorology and
oceanography, including atmospheric, oceanic, terrestrial, and
cryospheric processes; climate (past, present, and future); rapid
environmental change; interactions among polar atmosphere-ocean-land-ice
components; high latitude atmospheric and oceanic dynamics; boundary
layer processes; weather forecasting; human dimensions; and extreme
events.

Abstracts must be submitted electronically via the AMS conference
website (http://ams.confex.com/ams/11Polar/oasys.epl) by Monday, 31
January 2011. An abstract fee of $95, payable by credit card or purchase
order, is charged at the time of submission (refundable only if abstract
is not accepted).

Authors of accepted presentations will be notified via email by
mid-February 2011. Instructions for formatting extended abstracts will
be posted on the AMS conference website. Extended manuscripts (file size
up to 3 MB) must be submitted electronically by 15 April 2011. All
abstracts, extended abstracts, and presentations will be made available
on the AMS website.
