The Second Annual Open Meeting of the International Study of Arctic
Change (ISAC) will be held during the American Geophysical Union Fall
Meeting in San Francisco, California. The ISAC Open Meeting, scheduled
for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Monday, 14 December 2009, will be convened at
the San Francisco Marriott Marquis in the ARCUS Arctic Community Meeting
Room (http://www.arcus.org/communitymeetings/agu2009/).

The meeting will open discussion on the development of an international
scientific program for responding to arctic environmental change. This
is a critical element of the larger ISAC program, which also encompasses
scientific activities directed toward observing and understanding the
arctic system. ISAC is committed to the development of an
internationally coordinated and collaborative approach to arctic science
for society. The goal of the ISAC Open Meeting is to begin planning for
a broader dialogue at the State of the Arctic Conference (16-19 March
2010, http://soa.arcus.org) and a subsequent ISAC/SEARCH workshop (late
summer/early fall 2010) that will guide the ISAC Responding to Change
implementation strategy.

All interested parties are welcome to attend the meeting. For
preparation, the draft ISAC Science Plan can be downloaded at:
www.arcticchange.org. Additional background material will be made
available before and during the meeting.

The San Francisco Marriott Marquis is located at 44 Fourth Street, San
Francisco, California (one block from the Moscone Center West). The
ARCUS Arctic Community Meeting Room is located on the fourth floor, in
Pacific Room J. Refreshments will be available.
