The Arctic Centre of the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland,
seeks a Science Communication Manager.
The successful candidate must have a Master's degree in a relevant
discipline, strong skills in outreach and popularization of science, a
good knowledge about the societal influence of research, and experience
in international cooperation. A PhD is an asset, as is knowledge of
arctic international cooperation. Command of English is a prerequisite.
Key responsibilities are expected to include:
- Taking charge of tasks related to the Arctic Centre's science
communication;
- Communicating the results of arctic research to citizens,
different occupational groups, decision makers, and schoolchildren;
- Participating in international science communication cooperation
between arctic regions;
- Participating in the preparations and implementation of the new
initiative for the European Arctic Information Centre;
- Putting together international project proposals and acquiring
external public and private funding for them; and
- Participating in the work of the Arctic Centre Executive Group.
