Organizers of the Second Circumpolar Conference on Geospatial Sciences
and Applications (GeoNorth-II) announce an extended deadline for paper
and poster proposal submissions. The extended deadline is Friday, 19
June 2009.

GeoNorth-II will be held in Fairbanks, Alaska, 4-6 August 2009. The
conference organizers are seeking presentations, posters, and papers on
subjects relevant to promoting access and use of geospatial data in the
arctic setting. Conference threads will include the definition and
development of an Arctic Spatial Data Infrastructure, the use of virtual
globes and geo-browsers with live data services in the North, promoting
common data access and standards for arctic collaboration, and
geospatial applications and techniques that exercise geospatial data for
multiple purposes.

Please register and submit your presentation proposal at the conference
website by Friday, 19 June for consideration. Presentation information
is entered as part of your 'personal information' in the registration
form; information includes the proposed title, authors, abstract, and
optional paper upload. Early registration and confirmed payment must
occur before Tuesday, 30 June to qualify for the discounted early rate
of $225 per person. The registration fee for all participants between 1
July and the conference is $325 per person.

The Westmark Hotel is the conference hotel and is offering a special
room rate for the conference. Rooms must be booked directly with the
hotel before 30 June to guarantee this rate. Reference the "GeoNorth"
conference code for the room block. Alaska Airlines is offering a 5%
discount on all fares, and the Alaska Railroad is also offering a 20%
discount on their rail fares between Anchorage and Fairbanks.
