Alaska Sea Grant seeks college students to be a Knauss Marine Policy
Fellow with the National Marine Policy Fellowship. Men and women
currently enrolled in a graduate or professional program in a marine- or
aquatic-related field, at a U.S.-accredited institution of higher
learning, are encouraged to apply for this paid fellowship. The deadline
for applying is Friday, 20 February 2009.
Each year, Alaska Sea Grant recruits exemplary students to compete
nationally for the John A. Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship. The
prestigious fellowship provides eligible students a year of paid
experience in Washington, DC, working on marine issues with a
congressional staff or with an executive branch resource management
agency.
The Knauss fellowship began in 1979 and is run by the National Sea Grant
College Program. Since then, more than 600 Knauss Fellows have worked in
the executive and legislative branches of the federal government.
The Alaska Sea Grant College Program is a statewide marine research,
education, communication, and extension service at the University of
Alaska Fairbanks, School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences. Alaska Sea
Grant is funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
(NOAA) in partnership with the State of Alaska and private industry. For
