The International Polar Year (IPY) Day "People Day" is Wednesday, 24
September 2008. Throughout the week you are encouraged to explore the
area of "People in the Polar Regions" by reading about IPY research and
researchers, engaging in a classroom or online global discussion,
calling in to one of the four scheduled radio events, or launching a
virtual balloon.
Please browse the International Polar Year (IPY) People Day pages. IPY
research and researchers, online global discussions, radio events, and
virtual balloon information is available at:
http://www.ipy.org/index.php?/ipy/detail/people.
Activity flyers in many languages, and details of the "Taking IT Global"
online discussion, can be found at the following link.
http://www.ipy.org/index.php?/ipy/detail/global_student_discussion/.
Details of the four radio broadcasts can be found at:
http://www.ipy.org/index.php?ipy/detail/live_radio_events/. If you would
like to join in this live discussion by phone, please contact Kristi
Skebo (skebo [at] ualberta.ca), or tune-in to the web stream on the day and
ask questions via Internet. Radio programs are scheduled between 1pm-3pm
in the Americas, Europe, and Australasia on 24 and 25 September, and
will connect to IPY researchers around the world.
And please remember to launch a virtual balloon to show your
participation! Watch the flying balloons, and find out more about
launching your own balloon at:
