Universite Laval in Quebec City, Canada, is accepting applications for a
PhD or MSc student position in Arctic Oceanography/Biogeochemistry under
the supervision of Louis Fortier. The successful candidate will work
with long-term moored sediment traps deployed at several locations in
the Arctic Ocean to measure carbon export in a context of global warming
within the Network of Centres of Excellence of Canada ArcticNet. The
selected student will participate in fieldwork in the Arctic Ocean
aboard the icebreaker Amundsen. The position is available starting as
early as January 2008 and will remain open until filled. Applicants
should be autonomous, self-motivated, and should have demonstrated
academic excellence and field experience. A BSc or MSc in biology,
ecology, biochemistry, or related fields is required.
