Papers are invited for Session A16: "Tropospheric Halogen Chemistry"
being convened at the American Geophysical Union (AGU) Fall Meeting on
10-14 December 2007 in San Francisco, California.
Session Description:
Halogen species are known to have a considerable impact on the
composition of the troposphere. Nevertheless, uncertainties remain about
the chemical and biological processes responsible for the release and
removal of halogens, the global distributions of these sources and
sinks, the homogeneous and heterogeneous chemistry of many halogen
species, and the regional and global impact of halogen chemistry on
tropospheric ozone, aerosols, and climate. The goal of this special
session is to provide a forum for discussion of all aspects of the study
of halogens and their chemistry in the troposphere. Papers are solicited
on field experiments, satellite observations, laboratory studies, and
numerical models of halogen chemistry and the impacts of this chemistry
on atmospheric composition. Contributions on results from research
related to the International Polar Year are particularly encouraged.
