The Division of Applied Geology of the Department of Chemical
Engineering and Geosciences at Lulea University of Technology (LTU)
invites applications for a PhD position in water resources engineering.
The main focus areas of the PhD project are snow, water resources, and
climate variability. The objectives are to improve measurement and
modeling techniques as well as methods to optimize the use of
measurement information in model predictions. The position is part of
the project "Distributed measurement systems for improved snow and
runoff forecasts - integration into hydrological models." The project
involves collaboration between LTU, the Royal Institute of Technology in
Stockholm, and the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute,
with one PhD position at each educational center.
Applicants should hold an MSc degree in engineering or natural sciences
or equivalent and have experience in mathematics, statistics, physics,
computational engineering, hydrology, and/or measurement and modeling
engineering. Knowledge in programming, numerical modeling and
simulation, measurement technique, and experience of fieldwork and
research are welcome. The position includes four years of research for
pursuing individual doctoral studies and may be extended through
teaching duties.
