A one and a half day Greenland Environmental Observatory Summit
(GEOSummit) Planning Meeting will be held in Denver, Colorado on 19-20
January 2006 to update science and facilities planning for GEOSummit.
This planning will help guide future investments in GEOSummit and will
help assure that GEOSummit continues to be a productive, convenient,
multi-purpose, and multi-user research facility.
Organizers would like to use this forum to redefine science requirements
for the coming years, update facilities and operational plans to meet
those requirements, and identify what alternatives are available to meet
the growing demand for use of Summit as a research platform. Principal
investigators who are working at Summit or plan to in the near future
are encouraged to attend this meeting.
Please take a look at http://www.geosummit.org for an update on recent
activities at GEOSummit, results, data, and links to photos. Refer to
the VECO Polar Resources (VPR) website http://www.vecopolar.com for a
list of NSF-sponsored projects in Greenland and to download a Summit
site plan. A three-way memorandum of understanding between Greenland,
Denmark, and the United States, signed at GEOSummit in 2004, provides
encouragement for broader science cooperation. In addition, baseline
atmospheric measurement programs at GEOSummit are being upgraded, as it
provides a remote, high-elevation clean arctic site.

Science Coordination Office at sco [at] geosummit.org for further information.
