ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Jamie Bastedo is an ecologist, educator, and author living in
Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. Well established as a popular
science writer, he has written six books on northern nature, plus
hundreds of natural history features in magazines such as Up Here,
Backpacker, Winter Living, and Canadian Geographic. His passion for
popularizing natural science brought him national honor in 2002 when he
won Canada's Michael Smith Award for Science Promotion. His outstanding
contributions to the conservation and promotion of northern nature also
earned him Queen Elizabeth's Golden Jubilee Medal.
