The University of North Carolina Wilmington invites applications for a Professor in Earth system physics. This permanent position will be located in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The search will be in the broad area of Earth system physics, including oceanographic, atmospheric, and cryospheric science. The hiring committee seeks candidates who will complement the department’s existing research strengths in physical oceanography, cryospheric physics, climate physics, and complex systems, as well as candidates who use theory, computer modeling, observation, and/or experimentation.
The successful candidate for this position will establish and maintain a vigorous externally-funded research program that engages students; demonstrate commitment to exceptional teaching at the introductory level, including oversight of laboratory sections, and the ability to teach upper-level undergraduate and graduate courses in his or her specialty; and support the established undergraduate and graduate degree programs in the home department and at the Center for Marine Sciences.
Applicants must hold a PhD by the start of employment.
