The Department of Biology at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology invites applications for an Associate Professor in marine phytoplankton ecology. This full-time, permanent position will be located in Trondheim, Norway.
The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the use of information from advanced sensors attached to robotic platforms operating in space, air, sea surface, and/or underwater for the study of marine phytoplankton. Therefore, candidates with expertise in the development of in situ sensors for use over different time and space scales, statistical methods, machine learning approaches, and big data handling, especially as they relate to primary production, functional groups, and ocean health state assessments are encouraged to apply.
Required qualifications include:
- A PhD, or academic work, in marine phytoplankton ecology, biological oceanography, or related fields;
- A minimum of two years of relevant research experience in addition to the PhD;
- Research experience related to phytoplankton ecology with focus on physical coupling (environmental variables), biomass, biodiversity, primary production, traits, functions, and health state using in-situ observations; and
