The University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF) Department of Atmospheric Sciences and the International Arctic Research Center (IARC) invite applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor in atmospheric sciences. This tenure-track position will be located in Fairbanks, Alaska.
The successful candidate will teach courses that include weather and forecasting (synoptic and sub-seasonal to seasonal), atmospheric radiation, statistical and numerical methods in meteorology and climate, and climate variability and change as well as topics with interdisciplinary connections. Areas of research may include actionable climate science, climate variability and predictability, climate and weather extreme, sub-seasonal to seasonal prediction, or hydroclimate.
Applicants must hold a PhD in Atmospheric Science or related science field/discipline at the time of appointment and have research background in a climate relevant area. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Applicants should have demonstrated ability to or potential for teaching advance atmospheric radiation, synoptic meteorology, or statistical methods. Evidence of peer-reviewed publications is required.

- Statement of Teaching Philosophy including a discussion of instructional philosophy and how you are prepared to instruct, mentor, inspire a diverse student population, and foster an inclusive setting. (one to two pages);
- Statement of Research, including experience, research agenda, and how your research will address issues that are relevant to the Arctic and Alaska, including considerations of diversity, inclusion, and equity (one to two pages);
- Curriculum vitae; and
- Names of three references that are professional and work related. References will be contacted after the phone interview stage.
