Sea Ice Outlook: 2020 June Report
Outlook Report
Executive Summary
We express our thanks to all the groups and individuals who submitted their contribution to the 2020 June Sea Ice Outlook (SIO) report during these difficult times.
We received 33 contributions of September sea-ice extent that included pan-Arctic predictions; of those contributions, eight also included predictions for pan-Antarctic and the Alaska Region (Bering, Chukchi, and Beaufort seas). Additionally, we received 13 submissions of sea-ice probability (SIP), and ten submissions of first ice-free date (IFD). What is new this year is that we

Sea Ice Outlook: 2019 Interim Post-Season Report
Outlook Report
Executive Summary
The Arctic has reached the end of the 2019 summer melt season. The September monthly averaged sea ice extent was 4.32 million square kilometers, based on the National Snow and Ice Data Center (NSIDC) Sea Ice Index (SII). This is the third lowest in the satellite record that began in 1979. The median extent of the Outlook contributions for June (31 contributions), July (39 contributions), and August (42 contributions) were 4.40, 4.28, and 4.22 million square kilometers, respectively. Overall, the Outlooks
Sea Ice Outlook: 2019 August Report
Outlook Report
Executive Summary
Thank you to the groups that contributed to this 2019 August Sea Ice Outlook (SIO) report. This activity would not be possible without the dedication of so many people who contributed to the 2019 and previous SIOs that include Pan-Arctic, Antarctic, and regional forecasts. The 2019 August Sea Ice Outlook received a record number of 42 submissions (31 in June, 39 in July). These outlook contributions are based on a variety of methods, including dynamical (physics-based) models, statistical approaches, heuristic (qualitative), and a forecast
